chatcha does not require an account. There is no username/password login — your identity is a random ID generated and stored only in your browser's local storage. We do not operate a server-side database of users.
Your profile (display name, avatar, bio, banner, interests, notes, appearance settings) is stored in your browser's local storage and is never uploaded to our servers as a persistent record.
Messages, images, GIFs, and voice notes are relayed live between chat participants through our servers so the conversation can happen, but are not stored after the chat ends. Board drawings and watch-together state are held only for the duration of an active room.
To match you with a chat partner and prevent abuse, we temporarily process your interest tags, age (if provided), and a short-lived record of chat sessions for spam/abuse prevention. Automated moderation runs in your browser before content is sent.
If you opt in to push notifications, we store the minimum browser-provided subscription information needed to deliver them, until you disable notifications or clear your data.
If you submit feedback, the message content (and an optional contact address you provide) is sent to us by email to respond to your feedback.
